Breathing

This is a week where I thank $Deity for the Internet. For Facebook. Feeling so far away, so homesick, hoping everyone's okay.

The endless reels of replay on cable news, because I can't get local coverage out here. Recognizing every location. Worrying about everyone. Crying constantly. Glued to Facebook updates. Lots of wine.

A Skype session with two small children who have no idea what's going on in the world around them, so they continue to be silly and giggly and make everything okay.

And today the minister - who originates from Concord - included some comments about Boston in her sermon. And I needed it. After all the craziness - even though it was Over - it was cathartic. She commented that if you ask someone from 50 miles outside of Boston where they're from, they'll still say Boston. It's just that kind of place.

After the service, several transplants went up to thank her for her words. I got to meet other transplants. And it felt good. To finally feel connected. Less far away.

I miss everyone.
