I noticed a while ago that someone I met here views me as a project manager rather than a communications person because of the way I look at things. I filed that away as an amusing observance.
I've been doing a lot of volunteer work. Which I enjoy. But recently I've found myself having to operate as a project manager instead of merely a communications person, and suddenly I felt really different. And I was fulfilled in a way I hadn't been in a while.
I can't imagine just being a project manager. I enjoy hands-on work too much. I really enjoy geeking out on SEO best practices, or teaching other people how to use a CMS. And nothing soothes the OCD like editing web content. But that big-picture view and strategy and project planning? Apparently I grew to like and depend on it over the past several years. So a toast/blame/thank you to the fabulous Ms. Moorehead for coaching me along in project management.
And it really helps to have a clearer grasp on what I need in a job.
